Eyelid Surgery in Cyprus
Eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery for the restoration of a youthful look of the area around the eyes. As we get older the skin around the eyes becomes loose and saggy creating under-eye bags, droopy eyes and eyelid puffiness.
Blepharoplasty is the procedure in which one of our experienced doctors removes fat, excess skin and muscle from the upper, lower or both eyelids and then stitches the skin to make it tighter. This cosmetic treatment makes the eyes look more open and the area around the eyes more youthful and fresh. The results can be visible within 2 – 3 months.
Surgery time: 1 – 2 hours
Results last between 7 – 10 years or more
Anesthetic: General or local anesthesia
Downtime: 2 – 4 weeks
The area around our eyes is very sensitive. Men and women should protect the skin around their eyes from the sun. Sunscreen, hats and glasses are very important for protecting our skin and everyone should use them all year long and not just during summer. Moreover, a good skincare and an eye cream from an early age can help prevent or slow the aging process around the eyes.
Blepharoplasty can cause blurry vision for a few days so you should not drive before your vision is normal again. Additionally, the medication that your doctor will give you can cause sleepiness. Therefore you should wait until you stop the medication to start driving again. In general, it is ok to drive 10 – 14 days after the surgery.
You should avoid wearing eye makeup or contact lenses for at least 2 weeks. You should rest a lot and remember to keep your head elevated when sleeping. You should also limit your screen time as your eyes will get easily tired. Finally and very importantly, do not rub your eyes.
We always offer detailed guidance to our patients as to what to do before or after their surgery. Find more information on what to expect after plastic surgery procedures.
As any other surgical procedure, blepharoplasty in Cyprus also has some possible side effects or risks. These may include temporary double or blurred vision, swelling and bruising. Also, eyes can become very dry or very watery. Of course, most of these possible side effects are temporary and they last approximately 2 weeks after surgery.
Upper Blepharoplasty in Cyprus
Upper eyelid surgery is performed to treat loose skin, puffiness and droopy eyes between the upper eyelashes and the eyebrows, by removing excess fat, muscle, and loose skin from the upper eyelid. A successful eyelid surgery in Cyprus can make a patient’s eyes look younger and boost their self-esteem.
Upper blepharoplasty in Cyprus does not leave visible scars, because during upper eyelid surgery the fine sutures are made in the crease of the eyelid.
Lower Blepharoplasty in Cyprus
Lower eyelid surgery in Cyprus can treat under-eye wrinkles, bags and saggy skin. Our professionals make an incision along the lower lash line to remove excess skin and fat. Lower blepharoplasty can increase a patient’s confidence and self-love.
Lower eyelid surgery patients usually return home the same day and the procedure does not leave any scars, since the incisions are tiny and are hidden under the lower eyelashes.
